A bottle of PIAZ Merlot

Grape variety: Merlot.

Vinification: grapes fermented and macerated in truncated conical wooden vats for 30 days, then aged in barrique for 15 months. This product is obtained respecting the principles of BioSuisse certified organic agriculture

Geography: vineyards located mainly in the Mendrisiotto region, on the slopes of Monte Generoso with a predominantly South/South-East exposure. Well-draining soil with red porphyry parent rock or limestone. Production of 650 g/m2.

Aromatic characteristics: ruby red wine with a complex bouquet, in which fresh fruity notes and spicy nuances stand out. On the palate, it is distinguished by remarkable freshness and a harmonious balance between elegant tannins and a rich fruity pulp. A medium-bodied wine, refined and very pleasant.

Pairing: ideal as an accompaniment to risottos, premium cuts of red meat, or medium-aged cheeses.

Optimal service temperature: 17-19°C

Awards: over the years, this wine has received significant international recognition, not only attesting to the excellence of Merlot Piaz but also the commitment of the company to producing high-quality wines.

  • 2019: 2nd place at the Mondial du Merlot in Zurich in the Grand Master category with the 2017 vintage
  • 2023: 2019 vintage awarded 92 points and a silver medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2023 in London. 
  • 2024: Piaz Merlot 2021 named among the best 44 Swiss organic wines by the renowned Vinum magazine and awarded 90 points by Decanter entering the Silver Category.

A Bottle of PIAZ White Blending

Grape variety: Chardonnay and Sauvignon Gris.

Vinification: wine fermented at low temperature and subsequently aged in new barrique. Periodic bâtonnage gives the wine volume and fullness. This product is obtained respecting the principles of BioSuisse certified organic agriculture.

Geography: vineyards located mainly above Maroggia, on the slopes of Monte Generoso with South/South-East exposure. Well-draining soil with red porphyry parent rock. Production of 650 g/m2.

Aromatic Characteristics: straw-yellow wine with golden reflections. The nose opens with a bouquet of white-fleshed fruits, enhanced by a subtle smoky note. The palate is enveloping and soft, perfectly balanced by a distinct sapidity and great persistence. A wine to be enjoyed immediately for its fresh and delicate notes, but also very interesting when aged (5-10 years potential).

Pairing: ideal in combination with fish-based main courses such as citrus tuna tartare or smoked trout.
